WEEK IN BRIEF 27 December, 2010 - 1 January, 2011

Quote for the Week
"Our patience will achieve more than our force." – Edmund Burke

At times no matter what you do or how you do it, some things will just not work out - at least not immediately. This is where patience comes in – a little time and observation. It does not just mean waiting doing nothing. It's all about having control; taking action and pursuing your goal, trying as much as you can to make progress. Then, you wait for the result. After all, as the proverb goes ‘all good things come to those who wait’.

Celebrating Christmas in its True Meaning

As you all know, Christmas season is the time for sharing and giving with all your heart. IPSRians at the Kottayam branch had a tradition of exchanging gifts with their ‘Christmas Friend’ and had great fun at that, but this time round the old tradition took a back seat and a new practice came into play.

Dr. Mendus Jacob, in his Christmas message, talked about a social project conducted for the children of the Panakkachira village in Idukki. This social project is conducted by the Malanadu Grama Vikas under the leadership of Dr. C. Abraham Thomas, at the Govt. U.P School, for the educational upliftment of the children in the village. The children are all part of financially poor families and are provided sessions for developing their learning skills at their school. They are also provided free breakfast by the Grama Vikas Society. Many academicians from various educational institutions including Dr. Mendus Jacob are already volunteering in this social project. As of now children studying in the 5th to 7th standards are participating in these sessions. All these kids aspire to excel in their studies and make their dreams come true. Getting to use a computer system and to learn more about it is their biggest wish now.

Dr. Mendus Jacob urged the staff members of IPSR Kottayam branch to stand up for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and celebrate Christmas in its true meaning. He requested the staff members to join him in making a contribution towards the purchase of a computer system for the Panakkachira Govt. U.P School children. Consequently, a Christmas Charity Fund was set up and all staff members have been contributing to charity instead of spending the money on gifts.

The staff members at the Kottayam branch have set an example for all other IPSRians to follow, thereby making IPSR a more socially responsible corporate. The Fund is still open and we encourage contributions from the staff members of the other IPSR branches too.

Well done Nidhin!!

The Alappuzha Job Fair held on 18th December 2010 was a success, and Mr. Nidhin J. E. from the IPSR Career Centre was behind it all. He took just 5 days to arrange everything including the venue, the participating companies, the food and accommodation arrangements etc.
Nidhin is also an active member of his church and was in charge of bringing out the church’s centenary celebration’s supplement in the Malayala Manorama.

Keep up the good work, Nidhin!
