WEEK IN BRIEF 22 - 27 November, 2010

Quote for the Week
"Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all others." - Cicero

Gratefulness is important because it is a reflection of a person’s appreciation and positive reception. A grateful individual feels less deprived and has a greater sense of well-being. Learning to appreciate everything in one’s life requires a lot of practice, starting from the small, simple pleasures to daunting hardships; but once mastered it becomes a vital part of our everyday life. It is equally important to express gratitude towards other people. There’s nothing like showering a few words of praise that can light up a person’s day.

Roll Camera, Action!

Who knew there was a director hidden somewhere in IPSR? I am talking about Arjun V., Assistant Manager-Business Development at ipsr solutions ltd, Kottayam.

For those of you who don’t know, Arjun V. directed a short film called Weep from the Womb while in college. The movie addresses the harrowing experience of abortion. Take a look below.

If you think you recognize the male lead, it’s none other than Nidhin from the Career Centre. It seems, Arjun and Nidhin studied together at College of Engineering Poonjar.

Arjun and his friends made the film for a campus event they were participating in at the College of Engineering Kidangoor. Apparently, they shot and edited the video within a span of 3 hours. It deserves some praise, considering it was shot with a Samsung S760. Don’t we all agree?

WEEK IN BRIEF 15 - 20 November, 2010

Quote for the Week
"A goal without a plan is just a wish." - Antoine de Saint-Exupery

How many wishes have you made in your life? How many have come true? Wishes are akin to expectations - you wish for something and hope for the best. They are all about what you would like to have. On the other hand, goals are about what you must have; they are specific, result-oriented and mostly realistic. We often think of our target, and pave our way precisely just to reach that destination. Goals are about sweat and effort, with a dash of hope.

WEEK IN BRIEF 8 - 13 November, 2010

Quote for the Week
"A wise man will make more opportunities than he finds." - Sir Francis Bacon

A person with a goal in mind does not wait for something to happen; he makes it happen. If one has a fixed purpose or destination in mind, the path leading to it becomes clearer. His conviction makes him think little of the effort he has to put in. Of course, fate sometimes does play a decisive role in our endeavours, but you cannot always blame karma.

Opportunities come and go, but strength of mind lies in the will and ability of a person to turn any situation – good or bad – to his/her advantage.

WEEK IN BRIEF 1 - 6 November, 2010

Quote for the Week
"All great changes are preceded by chaos." - Deepak Chopra

Change is an undeniable part of life, as is the confusion that accompanies it. Sometimes we have no choice but to go with the flow, and at other times we have to make nerve wrecking decisions. Right or wrong? Good or bad? Sane or mad? With all this comes chaos.
But we must understand that there is no one who doesn't feel at their wit's end or swamped by the difficulties life hurls at them. Your grit is determined by the way you turn problems into opportunities. You can either find a way or make one.

Week in Brief @ IPSR

Quaint earthern oil-lamps, noisy fire crackers and lots of colour are characteristic of Deepavali. The festival of lights brings with it new hope for the triumph of good over evil. It promises spiritual upliftment and enlightenment of the human spirit. Let this Deepavali brighten up your life, and bring with it prosperity for the coming year.

Wishing all IPSRians a very HAPPY DEEPAVALI!
