Gandhi Jayanthi – A Time to Remember the Good Old Values.
“My life is my message” - Mahatma Gandhi.
On October 2nd world celebrates 'Gandhi Jayanti', the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi – the father of our Nation, the greatest of our leaders, who single-handedly stood up against the mighty British Empire, without any arms, and brought India her independence. The name of Bapu, as we fondly know him, transcends the bounds of race, religion and states, and has emerged as the prophetic voice of the 21st century. Gandhiji is remembered not only for his perseverance and dedication in finding peaceful solutions to violence, but also for his efforts to advance the cause of social and economic justice. His philosophies of Satyagraha and non violence are held in high esteem by the world communities, which lead the United Nations to adopting Gandhiji's birthday as the 'International Day of Non-Violence.
'We all bow our heads in respect to our beloved Bapu'!
"Generations to come, it may be, will scarce believe that such one as this ever in flesh and blood walked upon this earth".- Albert Einstein
Quote For the Week:
"Hear your heart. Heart your health". - Faith Seehill
Happiness resides only in a healthy body. Often our changing lifestyles, irregular diets and chain-smoking have made heart diseases knock at our doors. According to a study published in the Indian Journal of Medical Research the executives working in IT sector and other financial sectors have more chances of cardiac diseases and stroke. At this juncture the theme of this year’s world Heart Day, which is being observed on 26th September, becomes relevant for us - “Workplaces Wellness: Take responsibility for your own heart health“. It's fairly easy to achieve good health, but it involves certain changes in your life style. Remember, to “work with the heart“, you need a “healthy heart“.
Some simple steps towards a better heart;
- Consume more fruits and vegetables
- Exercise regularly ; obesity is the leading factor for the development of heart disease.
- Quit smoking and alcohol consumption , they are the biggest cardiac poisons.
- Reduce salt consumption ; salt accounts for a 20 percent reduction in heart disease.
- “A healthy lifestyle is also based on healthy food”, include more vegetables, cereals in your food.
