WEEK IN BRIEF 25 - 30 October, 2010

Quote for the Week
"A person without a sense of humor is like a wagon without springs-jolted by every pebble in the road." - Henry Ward Beecher

One's sense of humour starts with the ability to laugh at one's own self. Sure laughter is the best medicine; but how many of us can really laugh at our own expense? Being able to laugh at our troubles helps us to look at them objectively and makes them more tolerable; then nasty comments wouldn't seem so nasty, and the most uncomfortable of moments would seem funny. Apart from ourselves, it also puts others around us at ease, thus helping us to connect with them almost instantly.

So, in the spirit of all this humour, here's a question:

Why did the Chicken Cross the Road?
Aristotle    :   To actualize its potential.
Julius Caesar:   To come, to see, to conquer.
Darwin         : It was the logical next step after coming down from the trees.
Ernest Hemingway : To die. In the rain.
Martin Luther King says: It had a dream.

Why do you think the Chicken crossed the road?

WEEK IN BRIEF - 18 - 23 October, 2010

Quote for the Week
"Nothing will ever be attempted if all possible objections must first be overcome." - Samuel Johnson

The above line simply tells us; “Enough thinking, just go DO IT
One problem many of us face is that we think way too much. Suppose, we want to do something we’ve never done before or rather do it differently, we mull over it so much that our brains turn to slush. We weigh the pros and cons, the difficulties we might face, what someone else might think, what might happen or what my neighbour’s dog might think, and most importantly, if we will succeed. That doesn’t mean we should not think at all; but sometimes we just need to take a chance and go find out. Successful people differ from the ordinary in that the former took risks just to see how far they could go.
And now everyone knows.

WEEK IN BRIEF-11 – 16 October 2010

Quote for the Week:

“No pressure; No d
iamonds.”- Thomas Carlyle

We all know that diamond is the hardest substance found on Earth. It is formed under the Earth’s surface under conditions of extreme pressure and high temperature. It is in fact this high pressure that gives the diamond its hardness and makes its ‘unbreakable’. Human endurance can be compared to the diamond’s strength. When subjected to extreme pressure or negative situations or when faced with challenges for survival, the human mind conditions itself to endure them and become stronger. It is the lessons we learn from life’s difficulties that make us ready for moving forward without any fear.
